What is staking?
If you’re a crypto investor, staking is a concept you’ll hear about often. Staking is the way many cryptocurrencies verify their transactions, and it allows participants to earn rewards on their holdings. Staking can be a great way to use your crypto to generate passive income, especially because some cryptocurrencies offer high interest rates for staking. Before you get started, it’s important to fully understand how crypto staking works.
Are there fees for staking?
Yes, a certain percentage of the staking rewards will be charged as an operator’s fee. It will be used to cover the costs of operating the node, which includes system hardware, blockchain fees (gas) and our time.
Is staking secure?
You stay the owner of your crypto currency. We never take custody of your investments. Your money stay in your pocket (wallet). Besides, you are free to unstake from us whenever you like.
What is a Validator?
A validator is a computer program used to check the validity or syntactical correctness of a fragment of code or document. In blockchain world, the word validator is used for someone, who is responsible for the provision of infrastructure, as well as proposing, validating, and minting new blocks. There are many independent validators on each blockchain that work together, much like a bee colony, to ensure the blockchain’s security by monitoring its accuracy, establishing validity, guaranteeing availability.
What is a Node?
Basically a node is a server that which has the aim to validate and operate for the blockchain. Every node communicates (gossips) with every other node and they share (relay) information about transactions. Depending on the type and purpose of a blockchain, one or many nodes come together to collect information and submit them into a block. This block is then proposed to other nodes to be approved, which is called as validated.
What is a Delegator?
Delegation is the assignment of authority to another person (normally from a manager to a subordinate) to carry out specific activities. It is the process of distributing and entrusting work to another person. In blockchain technology, delegators are individual holders of crypto currency that want to contribute to the blockchain’s security and earn rewards. They do not operate a node but delegate their tokens to a validator of their choice and they are eligible to earn a percentage of the rewards for validating and minting blocks. From the perspective of a validator, a delegator is an anonymous customer.
How Do I Earn Rewards?
,If you stake your tokens with Validator.run, you are already a delegator and enjoy the rewards for delegating your tokens. The amount of rewards which a delegator can earn, depends on the ratio between the size of the holder’s own stake and the total token supply of the blockchain itself. Please refer to the corresponding tokenomics for further calculations, as every ecosystem provides it’s unique rewards system.
